Strategies to Improve the Quality of Care, Patient Safety, and Reduce Costs
It is essential in healthcare to make strategies to improve the quality of care and safety of patients and reduce heart-related costs. These strategies are the goal to benefit both patients and the healthcare system. There are the following strategies:
- Patient-centered care keeps the patient at the center of their medical experience. It requires active involvement of patients in care planning and decision-making by considering their preferences, values, and personal goals. This approach recognizes that patients are unique individuals with unique desires and needs. It aims to adapt treatment approaches to their specific desires. Patient-centered care increases the overall quality of care and results by developing a collaborative connection between healthcare practitioners and patients (Lindman et al., 2020).
- Team-based care supports collaboration among healthcare providers develops a coordinated approach to patient care. Primary care doctors, cardiologists, nurses, and pharmacists collaborate to provide patients with a complete and coordinated treatment plan. This strategy gives an advantage to the experience of each team member which results in more effective care and better patient treatment outcomes. This strategy depends on the team’s effective communication and collaborative decision-making to provide a complete and patient-centered approach to medical care (Sabone et al.,2019).
- Using telemedicine and remote monitoring technology to provide regular care to heart patients is a progressive strategy. Remote monitoring systems continuously track vital signs and critical health data, allowing immediate action when necessary. Telemedicine platforms enable patients to obtain proper guidelines and stress management sessions when needed from the comfort of their own homes. This technology combination enables continuous support, enhanced patient safety and care quality, and cost-effective healthcare solutions (Farabi et al., 2019).
Conclusion
I experience the rising admissions of heart-related cases in hospitals. Heart attack significantly affects healthcare, compromising patient’s quality of care and safety resulting in higher costs. The Texas Board of Nursing standards, the UNN policy, and the ACA help in addressing these challenges. Strategies like patient-centered care, team-based collaboration, and telemedicine with remote monitoring offer ways to enhance the quality of care, safety of patients, and cost-effectiveness. These strategies aim to create a supportive, cost-effective healthcare environment for individuals having heart-related issues like my mother.
